CrazySex Positions

Some of these are great. Some are a story you tell later.

Every so often a position shows up that is less about comfort and more about ambition. These are those. Some need a lift. Some need a piece of furniture that was never designed for the job. A few of them are genuinely great and the rest are a good story you tell a friend later. This page sorts them into those two piles, honestly.

Nothing here is beyond a reasonably fit adult. Most of it is beyond a reasonably fit adult on a weeknight. Read the safety notes properly, because the risk in this category is a slip rather than anything exotic. Then pick one and see how it goes.

What CountsAs Crazy

A position earns the label when it needs a plan. If you have to move furniture or hold someone off the ground, it qualifies. Ordinary positions do not require a briefing beforehand.

The other tell is inversion. Once one person's head is lower than their hips, you are firmly in this category. The piledriver is the flagship example, and it is exactly as demanding as it looks.

Time is the third measure. An ordinary position can run twenty minutes. Most of the ambitious ones have a shelf life of about two, and the clock starts the moment you are in place. Plan the exit before anyone begins to shake.

GreatIn A Photo Only

Some positions are better as concepts. The butter churner looks unforgettable in an illustration and puts real pressure on the neck in practice. Most people try it once and then quietly move on.

The same goes for anything that needs a near handstand or a doorway. Balance eats so much of your attention that very little is left over for anything else. That is the honest problem with most of the wild ones.

Standing lifts belong here too, with one caveat. The stand and carry is genuinely good for about ninety seconds. After that it becomes a workout, and not the fun kind.

Wrists take the punishment in most of these. Anything that puts one partner on the hands loads the wrist at a right angle, and that gets sore quickly. Making fists and resting on the knuckles helps. Gripping the edge of a mattress helps more.

How To TryOne Safely

  1. 1

    Pick One, Not Four

Choose a single position to attempt and treat the rest of the night as normal. Stacking experiments is how people end up frustrated.

  2. 2

    Test The Furniture

Put your full weight on it first and push it sideways. If it slides or creaks under one person, it is out.

  3. 3

    Warm Up First

Wild positions ask for range of motion you may not have cold. A few minutes of ordinary movement makes the difference.

  4. 4

    Agree On A Stop Word

Something short that means stop right now, no discussion. It earns its keep when one of you cannot see the other's face.

  5. 5

    Have An Exit Plan

Know how you are getting out of the position before you get into it. This matters most for anything inverted or off the ground.

The OnesThat Deliver

A few of the ambitious ones actually pay off. The amazon flips the usual balance of control and needs nothing beyond a bed. It looks dramatic and costs less effort than most entries here.

The waterfall is another one worth the setup. Letting the head hang off the edge of the bed changes sensation with almost no athletic demand. Keep the session short and come back up slowly.

There is a trick for making hard positions easier that nobody mentions. Start lower. Set up on the floor with a folded duvet down, or begin kneeling rather than standing. You lose the drama of the entrance and gain about a minute of usable time.

Furniture GetsInvolved

Once furniture is part of the plan, check it first. Tables and counters were not built for this. Nothing kills a mood faster than furniture making a noise it should not make.

Height is the real issue. Standing positions only work when the surface lines up with the hips, and almost none of them do. A step stool solves more problems than any position guide will admit.

Stairs deserve their own warning. They are the most popular wild location and the least forgiving one. Carpet helps a little. Nothing else does.

Test the surface with full weight before anyone is on it. Sit on the counter. Push the table sideways with one hand. A table that slides on a tile floor will keep sliding once things get going.

Chairs are the exception to all of this. A solid dining chair with no wheels and no arms is the most useful piece of furniture in the house. Office chairs are the opposite. The seat spins and the height drops without warning.

Who ShouldTry These

These suit people with energy to spend and a sense of humor about failure. Most attempts do not work the first time. That is part of the appeal, as long as neither of you is precious about it.

Try one ambitious position per night and keep an easy one in reserve. Warn each other before any lift. If it stops being funny, it is done.

Agree on one word that means stop now. Not a question and not a check in later. Just a word, because during a lift there is no time for a sentence. 'Down' works. So does 'floor'. Whoever is carrying the weight gets to use it too, and usually does first.

Keep one easy position in reserve and treat the wild one as the opening act. Ambition fades fast once the arms are tired. Nobody has ever regretted moving back to the bed.

Weigh in

Are wild positions worth the effort?

No wrong answer here.

Questions PeopleAsk

What are crazy sex positions?

Crazy sex positions are the ambitious ones that need real setup or real strength. They usually involve a lift or a piece of furniture doing something it was not built for. Most people try them for novelty rather than as a regular habit.

What is the hardest sex position?

The piledriver is the usual answer. It puts the receiver on their shoulders with the hips up, which is hard to hold and harder to relax into. The butter churner runs a close second.

Which wild positions are actually worth trying?

The waterfall and the amazon give the biggest change for the least effort. Both work on an ordinary bed. Positions that require holding someone off the ground tend to be very short-lived.

Is the piledriver or the butter churner harder?

The piledriver is harder to do and the butter churner is harder to enjoy. Both put weight on the neck and shoulders. Keep either one brief.

How do you try a new position without it being awkward?

Expect it to be awkward and it stops mattering. Laugh about it and adjust. If it still does not work, bail out and try something else. Talking through the setup first removes most of the fumbling.
